Sometimes when I'm going about my business in the world, I'll see a color combination that catches my eye and I think about which colors in the Stampin' Up! color palette the combination represents. I know I'm not the only one who does this (and maybe I'll admit I'm a little "stamp crazy") but I can't help it. Stamping is something I do every day, so its probably natural for my mind to go there when I see fabulous color combinations.
Late last night, I saw some scrapbooking products that were being advertised on Instagram and they used a light blue, yellow, gray and a little black and I immediately remembered my love for that combination...
I pulled out some Stampin' Up! ink pads in Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, Gray Granite and my Momemto Black so I wouldn't forget. This morning, I got up, made some coffee and slipped into my stamp room for some fun...
I think it's interesting to add patterned papers to card designs, in small amounts. When I choose patterns, I look for simple patterns that don't overpower the stamped image I'm using as the focal point of the card. In two of these examples, I used my Starburst punch to add a circle of vellum to help tone down the bright yellow gingham pattern. I love that cheerful gingham, but didn't want it overshadowing the cake image I took time to color and pop up with dimensional adhesive.
I don't feel compelled to add a sentiment to the outside of every card. Sometimes the focal image speaks for itself! If I'm trying to keep the card design clean and simple, sometimes I'll leave the sentiment for the inside of the card.
The Piece of Cake stamp set is delightful with it's adorable cake designs and fun sentiments. The coordinating punch makes the whole thing extra fun--no fussy cutting and no die cut machine needed, just a quick squeeze of the punch and your cakes are ready for your cards. #SUPieceofCake #birthdaycards #stampinup #queencitystampart
