Clean + Simple Card: Sea Turtles with Watercolor Technique

Hey friends!! Today I'm sharing a clean and simple birthday card that features the Sea Turtles reversible stamp set!! I show you a fun, watercolor technique in THE VIDEO and if you keep reading you can see a few photos of the finished card.

The watercolored turtle is so striking with the black details and the white on white embossed panel in the background. From the minute I added that Sea Turtle stamp set to my wish list, I knew I'd eventually pair it with the Seashells 3D Embossing folder.

I love the way this card came out. I love the high contrast and the simplicity of the beautiful turtle with the watercolored shell. I even love the font on the sentiment from the Friends are Like Seashells stamp set!

I love to create simple, handmade cards, but sometimes its fun to pull out different coloring mediums and play a little. With watercolor, you really need to let the panels sit and dry thoroughly, especially if you're adding that Memento Black ink over top. It's a die based ink pad and the black will run all over the color if the paper is moist.

It's also helpful to have the Stamparatus tool whenever you're trying to get a really

solidly stamped image with that Memento Black ink. The pad is a felt-type pad and sometimes it takes a few rounds of stamping to get the image solid. If you look at my turtle, I stamped it three times and it's still not completely solid in some areas. That's partly because I stamped on Watercolor card stock, which has a slight texture, so I would have had to keep pressing to get the image completely solid.

I hope you enjoyed the clean and simple card design for today! I hope you'll pull out your watercolors or your ink pads and give that technique a try!!
