Clean + Simple Card: In the Pines 2

This week I'm sharing another sweet and simple card using the In the Pines bundle from Stampin' Up! I'm showing you a fun sponge and mask technique to create that pretty oval background. You can see how this card came together by watching the video HERE.

This is a very clean and easy card to make. I used a base card in Seaside Spray, plus a layer panel of Whisper White. To create the oval mask, I used the Layering Ovals dies to cut an oval into a mask panel measuring the same size as the card layer panel-- 4 x 5.25".

I stacked the two white panels together and used a sponge to layer on the ink. I used Seaside Spray ink for the sky and Soft Seafoam ink for the ground. The trees I stamped using Pear Pizzaz ink and then die cut the trees using the coordinating die in the bundle.

Using dimensional adhesive to pop up elements on a card front can add interest to a very simple card without adding any "noise". The dimension on a simple card can be a real focal point.

I finished off the card by stamping a sentiment from the In the Pines stamp set using Misty Moonlight ink. I also added some adhesive backed snowflakes, tucking a few behind the branches of the trees so only part of them stick out and catch the light.

I really like how this card came out and I had fun sponging the little background for my die cut image. This was such a quick, easy card, just change up the colors a little bit and you'd have a beautiful Christmas card that you could very easily reproduce multiple times. I hope you enjoyed the card for today!!
