Clean + Simple Card: Iconic Dies

Updated: Jul 4, 2021

This week I'm using the Iconic die set and a sentiment from the Forever Fern stamp set to create the clean and simple card. I'm also sharing a stepped up version using similar materials but a different die cut and some extra layers. I'm also sharing a fun tip for prepping and storing your die sets. You can see more in the VIDEO, or keep reading for a closer look at the card.

For the clean and simple version, I cut a base card in Pool Party card stock and a layer panel in basic white. I ran the layer panel through my Cut + Emboss Machine using the Brick and Mortar 3D Embossing Folder to add a fun texture.

EMBOSSING FOLDER TIP | When you're using a small panel in an embossing folder and the pattern has to be level, try lining up a portion of the card stock with the little line that's printed on the embossing folder. This should help you to get the level embossing you need for your project.

PREPPING YOUR DIES | I prepped my dies by rubbing a dryer sheet over the cutting edges to add a coating of the anti-static properties that will help the die to cut the images and release all of the little bits in the detail spaces. I then transfer my dies to sheets of vent cover material that I find at my local Wal-Mart. You can get them at Target, online or your local hardware store too. This is a flexible, magnetic sheet that makes it easy to keep your dies organized and ready to use. It's easy to cut with scissors or a trimmer, but I advise you use a guillotine trimmer if you have one, because cutting this material in your regular slide trimmer will use up the blades very quickly.

I started with a base card of Pool Party card stock and layered on a panel of Basic White that I ran through my Cut 'n Emboss machine with the Brick + Mortar 3D Embossing Folder. I added two of the fern image die cuts in Pear Pizazz. I stamped a sentiment from the Forever Fern stamp set and popped that panel up with dimensional adhesive. The finishing touch was a bow of linen thread and a gem on the sentiment strip from the Elegant Faceted Gems pack.

Such a sweet and simple card. Perfect for a note to a friend.

I then took similar supplies and stepped up this card creating a version that includes additional layers.

I started with a basic white base card, added a layer of Pool Party card stock. I stamped some leaf sprigs from the Forever Fern stamp set in Pool Party ink on the Pool Party panel to create a tone-on-tone effect. I layered on the brick embossed layer of basic white and added a die cut flower and leaves. I chose a larger sentiment from the Forever Fern stamp set and stamped it on a panel cut using the Ornate Frames dies. I then added that linen bow and a few extra Elegant Gems.

I really like both versions of this card and hope you do, too. There are some really cute images in that Iconic Die Set. I hope you'll check it out!!
