Clean + Simple Card: Forever Friendship - Light Watercoloring Technique

Updated: Jul 3, 2022

I'm back with another card today to continue sharing stamp sets from the new 2022 July-December Mini Catalog from Stampin' Up! Today I'm sharing a card I made using the Forever Friendship stamp set from page 66. I loved this set as soon as I saw it and added it to my demonstrator pre-order last month. Today I'm sharing a light watercoloring technique and giving you a closer look at this stamp set. You can watch the VIDEO or keep reading for a closer look at the cards...

I stamped the typewriter image on a 3x4 panel of Shimmery White card stock using Stazon Black ink from the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog. This cardstock is perfect for light watercoloring techniques because of the coating on the paper. I used a small, round #6 sable paintbrush from my local craft store instead of my water painters this time, because I wanted a bit more control over my brush saturation. If you struggle to get the look you want from your watercoloring, try switching to a regular paintbrush and see if that helps! I used Coastal Cabana and Polished Pink ink pads to color in the typewriter image. I stamped the sentiment on a panel of Polished Pink card stock using Memento Black ink.

The pretty background paper I used is from the Hues of Happiness pack of paper. It's from the back of one of the floral sheets.

This was a fun, simple card to create and the coloring I shared is a great way to practice and get more comfortable with watercolor as a coloring medium. In celebration of July being World Watercoloring Month, I hope you'll give it a try!!
