Hey friends! Today I'm sharing a card I made using the Timeless Tropical stamp set and coordinating dies from Stampin' Up! These products are retiring by May 2, 2022, but currently can be found in the 2021-22 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog. I'm also going to share an easy technique to add some texture to the background. You can watch the video HERE.
The background layer texture was created using what I call the "crumple technique". To create this, you'll take a fine mist water bottle and spray the cardstock a few times, wipe the water across the surface, then crumple it up tight! When you un-crumple it and smooth it out with your hand, you'll have this really neat texture on the cardstock. You can set this aside, do your stamping and then add it to the card base before you complete your card assembly.
So the products I used to create the card include:
151497 Timeless Tropical stamp set
151495 In the Tropics die set
126185 Stampin' Spritzers
I used Old Olive card stock, Old Olive marker, Sahara Sand card stock and Sahara Sand ink pad, however a Sahara Sand marker would have been more helpful to ink the trunks of the trees. I also used the Layering Circles dies to cut the vellum circle, some Linen Thread and some Elegant Faceted Gems to finish it off. I love how the textured layer looks like a treasure map, especially the way I curled the opposite corners.
You can order the retiring stamp set and dies, plus any other supplies you need by visiting my shop, HERE.
